17 things that Happened in 2017

Happy 2018 everyone! 2017 was insane. So many things happened in my life and in dance. I have gathered a list of 17 things that happened in 2017. I was truly and amazing year and I cannot tell you how grateful I am.

I did so may things this past year and it was fun to look back at what I did. These are on no particular order, so, let’s get into it!

#1: Went to Disney World

In April, my family and I went down to Florida to visit Disney World for spring break. Disney is my favorite vacation. Since I was little, we have been going to Disney World. for vacations. Despite the fact I was sick for the better part of the trip, it was a great trip. We are heading back in a couple of months and I am extremely excited.

#2: Got a new dance dress

In May I got my new solo dress for dance. This is the second solo dress I have owned. I love it so much.

#3: Went to Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp

As I mentioned in my summer 2017 post, I went to Blue Lake for the 4th summer this year. Unfortunately it was my last as a camper, but it was one of the best sessions I spent there. I met so many awesome people and hope to return as a counselor!

#4: Placed 9th at Oireachtas

This one was a huge one for me! I talked about this in my Oireachtas post. I was so happy to have placed in the Oireachtas in my trad set!

#5: Competed at 18 different Feises

Yes, that’s right, 18! It might not seem like a lot, but it’s A LOT!

#6: Started teaching beginners at my dance school

This is one of my favorite things! I love teaching. The kids are so fun to be around. It’s so cool to see steps finally click for them. Watching their improvement the course of the year is amazing.

#7: Got to experience a Pentatonix concert

This was amazing! It was my first concert experience and I got to go with one of my best friends.


#8: Went to SkyZone for my birthday

For my birthday, I went to Sky Zone with my dance friends. It was probably one of the most fun parties I have had in a really long time!

#9: Met Anderson Cooper

This was pretty cool. I was a part of a group that got to go see and do a Q&A with him before his talk at the local college.

#10: Saw Hamilton!

Hamilton was one of the best experiences ever! I got to see it in Chicago with Wayne Brady as Burr. It was the most incredible musical production I’ve seen and I hope to see it again!


#11: Overcame an ankle injury

I talked a bit about this in my previous post. But this year I was able to deal with some ankle problems, It required me to re-work the way I’ve been dancing, but it was definitely worth it.

#12: Got a job

I got a job as a page at my local Library.

#13: Went to New York for my cousins wedding

My cousin and her then-fiance got married. It was a really fun wedding. It was great to see my family I haven’t seen in a while.

#14: Visited North Carolina to see my grandparents

My mom and I went to go visit my grandparents in NC twice in 2017. It’s always nice to go down and see them.

#15: Was a part of a solo group at Blue Lake

When I went to BLFAC I auditioned and was chosen to be a part of a solo group for one of our songs. The song was “Stand in the Light” by Jordan Smith. I love that song and was glad to have been chosen to be a part of that group.

#16: Danced at Raglan Road in Disney World

I was able to dance on stage at Raglan Road for the second time. It was probably one of my favorite parts of the trip. It would be awesome to dance there again.

#17: Led my first group for St. Patrick’s Day

This past St. Patrick’s Day I was able to run one of the performance groups. It was a great experience and I would definitely do it again.
